On the day before Thanksgiving, the PEW Internet and American Life Project released a report on podcasting. It’s results tells of the lack of staying power with podcasts. While 12% of internet users had downloaded a podcast [up from 7% in the prior sweep], only 1% download them on a typical day. More people tried it, but tried it only once, it seems.
This certainly isn’t for a lack of interesting material available via podcast. One from the BBC, titled STORYfix, is a five minute video podcast clearly created for a younger generation. It is a weekly video summary of the news, akin to a series of headlines to accompany video clips quite unlike anything else out there. They have fun with it, too.
